WISE builds the knowledge and skills of teams to increase the impact of their own community projects. By designing customised training curricula with an authentic learning environment complemented by dedicated mentoring, we maximise benefit to learners, and thus, to communities.
If you are looking for guidance related to programme planning, research methods, monitoring and evaluation, behaviour change, or WASH, WISE may be the organisation for you! Email email@example.com to ask about training opportunities.
WISE with a team of 5 Young Southeast Asian Leaders Initiative (YSEALI) Academic Fellows delivered a 3.5-day community assessment capacity building (CACB) workshop in Battambang Province from 29 October to 1 November 2017. The Municipal Solid Waste Management (MSWM) project team received a post-workshop seed fund to educate primary school children on municipal solid waste management, as well as mentoring from the organising team, which is ongoing. This year (2018), we conducted a training needs analysis with local partners Neakpoan Organization for Development and Community Training Organization for Development (formerly DARE). Moving forward, WISE will work more closely with them to address their learning needs in a more strategic manner.
The HMTL (Himpunan Mahasiswa Teknik Lingkungan/Environmental Engineering Students Society) capacity building project in 2016 was WISE’s first ever project, where we provide training, mentoring, as well as financial support for their community and society initiatives. WISE does not have active plans to provide training in Indonesia, but is keen to explore opportunities.
WISE has been training and mentoring (formally and informally) several overseas community service projects from the NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine and NTU Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine since mid-2017, including Project Daya and Project Battambang. In October 2018, we launched a workshop on designing for behaviour change (see course brochure) and are aiming to train or mentor at least 100 youth with support from National Youth Council (Singapore)’s National Youth Fund Future-ready Youth Grant.
